- Born on or after
This is an independent tool and not an official government calculator. The cut-off date and age limits must always be matched with the official ADRE notification.
How to use the ADRE age calculator
Using the calculator takes less than a minute. First, choose your date of birth from the calendar. Second, set the cut-off date. This is the date on which the recruiting authority counts your age, and it is written in the official notification, usually as “age as on 1st January” of the recruitment year. Third, select your category, then press “Check eligibility”.
The result shows your age in years, months and days, the age limit that applies to your category, and the two birth dates that mark the edge of eligibility. If you are not eligible, the card turns red and tells you by how many days you missed the limit. Nothing you type is sent anywhere. The whole calculation runs inside your own browser, so your date of birth is never stored or uploaded.
Formula used to calculate age
Age is worked out by subtracting your date of birth from the cut-off date, one unit at a time: years first, then months, then days. If the day of the cut-off date is smaller than the day of your birth date, one month is borrowed and the days of the previous month are added.
For eligibility, the tool does two checks. The minimum-age check confirms that your date of birth is on or before the cut-off date minus the minimum age. The maximum-age check confirms that your date of birth is on or after the cut-off date minus the maximum age for your category. Maximum age for a category is the base upper limit plus the relaxation in years.
| Category | Relaxation | Upper age limit |
|---|---|---|
| General / UR | None | 40 years |
| OBC / MOBC | 3 years | 43 years |
| SC / ST (P) / ST (H) | 5 years | 45 years |
| PwBD | 10 years | 50 years |
The figures above follow the pattern used in earlier Assam recruitment notices and are only default values. Rules can change with every notification, so confirm them in the ADRE 3.0 notification before you apply.
Example
Suppose the cut-off date is 1 January 2026 and the minimum age is 18. A candidate born on 15 March 1990 has an age of 35 years, 9 months and 17 days. This is inside the General limit, because the earliest eligible birth date for General is 1 January 1986.
Now take a candidate born on 10 February 1984 with the same cut-off date. The age is 41 years, 10 months and 22 days. For the General category this is above the limit, as the birth date is earlier than 1 January 1986. For an OBC / MOBC candidate the limit is 43 years, the earliest eligible birth date is 1 January 1983, and the candidate is eligible. This shows why choosing the correct category matters.
Frequently asked questions
What is the minimum age for ADRE?
In earlier notices, candidates had to be at least 18 years old on the cut-off date. Check the ADRE 3.0 notification for the current figure.
Which date is used to count my age?
The date given in the official notification, not today’s date. Change the cut-off field in the calculator to match it.
Does the relaxation apply automatically?
Relaxation applies only if you belong to that category and hold a valid certificate issued by the competent authority. Select your category honestly and keep the documents ready.
Is my date of birth saved on your server?
No. The calculator is client-side, which means everything happens in your browser and no data leaves your device.
Can I rely on this result as final?
No. It is a quick self-check. The recruiting authority’s decision and the official notification are final.
